Aluminum, clear polycarbonate or steel?

Aluminum, clear polycarbonate and steel are separate panel choices. Clear panels let you retain daylight through the covered opening; opaque aluminum and steel panels do not. Ask about the weight, dimensions and handling of the actual panels you are ordering rather than assuming one material is best for every project.

Plan tracks, overlap and storage together

Panel coverage depends on the system layout, including overlap, headers, tracks and fastening hardware. Enter the opening dimensions requested by the quote tool and have the office confirm the panel schedule. Do not order solely from the glass dimensions or substitute generic fasteners for approved components.

Decide who will install and remove the panels, how they will safely reach each opening and where labeled panels and hardware will be stored. Permanently mounted accordion shutters may suit a project where storing and deploying separate panels is impractical.

Compare complete approved systems

A material name alone does not establish hurricane protection. Review the approval, permitted spans, mounting surface and attachment schedule for the exact assembly. Compare product pricing, tracks and fasteners on the same opening list, with freight and your installation costs kept separate.
